CFS, Airport & Local LTL

CFS, Airport & Local Freight Delivery

From released CFS cargo to airport freight and palletized shipments, DK Express coordinates local pickup and delivery through its carrier partners. Send your shipment details, and our team will confirm equipment, availability, and pricing.

How it works

One request, one point of contact.

Not every shipment arrives in a full container. When your freight is released at a container freight station or an airline cargo facility, or it's a few pallets moving across town, DK Express coordinates the ground move.

The pickup and delivery are performed by our carrier partners, typically with straight trucks (box trucks) suited to loose and palletized freight. We handle the request, confirm the details with you, and stay your point of contact until delivery.

  • We coordinate ground pickup and delivery of freight that is already released.
  • We don't operate a CFS warehouse, book air freight, or provide customs clearance or freight forwarding. Your forwarder or broker handles those.

What we coordinate

Four kinds of local freight moves.

General inquiries are welcome from Los Angeles and Southern California. Coverage for your specific pickup and delivery is confirmed with each request.

CFS / LCLCFS freight pickup and delivery

Less-than-container-load (LCL) shipments are unloaded at a container freight station (CFS). Once your cargo is released and the CFS has it available, we arrange pickup of the loose or palletized freight and deliver it to your warehouse or business.

This is different from port drayage, which moves a whole container from the terminal.

AirportAirport cargo ground pickup and delivery

For freight moving by air, the airline or its handling agent releases the shipment at its cargo facility. We coordinate the truck that picks it up there, or brings outbound freight to the facility your forwarder specifies.

We arrange the ground move only. The air transportation itself is booked by your airline or freight forwarder.

Local LTLPalletized and crated freight

Pallets, crates and cartons that don't fill a trailer, moving between local businesses. It's a local cartage move arranged for your shipment, not a nationwide scheduled LTL network with terminals and transfer points.

Deliveries to warehouses, distribution centers, stores and offices. Tell us about receiving hours and whether there's a dock or forklift, so the right truck is assigned.

Requested options

Ask for what the delivery needs.

These can be requested with your shipment. Each one depends on the assigned partner truck, the facilities and the freight, so availability and any charges are confirmed for each shipment. None of them is guaranteed in advance.

Before you request a pickup

How to prepare a pickup request.

  1. Confirm the release. Make sure the CFS, airline or shipper has released the freight, and note any pickup number, lot reference or air waybill (AWB).
  2. Count and measure. Number of pallets, crates or pieces, with length × width × height of each and the units, plus the total weight.
  3. Describe the freight. Commodity, packaging, and whether it can be stacked.
  4. Check both ends. Is there a dock or forklift? Is the delivery to a business or a residence? What are the receiving hours?
  5. Send the documents you have. Pickup authorization, delivery order (D.O.) or release.

Pickup depends on the freight being available, the required releases, the facility's rules and confirmed equipment.
